High training volume is associated with increased prevalence of nonallergic asthma in competitive cross-country skiers
Abstract
Asthma prevalence in the most successful competitive cross-country skiers was 56.1%. Non-allergic asthma was more common in skiers than controls (60.1% vs. 38.7%, p = 0.036). Non-allergic asthma OR 5.05 (95% CI 2.65–9.61), allergic asthma OR 1.92 (1.08–3.42).
